Teutopolis Nabs Doubleheader Over EHS

Teutopolis High School came calling at Effingham and picked up a doubleheader softball win over the Hearts Tuesday.
T-town won the opener 6-1 behind eight hits and four Effingham errors. The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then added on two runs in the third and fifth and one more in the sixth. Effingham's lone run came in the fourth.
Borries pitched the win on a six-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts. Apke and Stephens led in hitting. Apke had a single and a double while Stephens had three singles.
EHS was led by Shelby Nunamaker with a double and an RBI and Kourtney Utz with a double.
In the second game, the Shoes took a 5-2 win. All the runs for both teams were scored in the fifth inning.
Swingler picked up the pitching win going four innings, allowing five hits, two runs, no walks and striking out two. Kadi Borries and Hardiek had a double each. K. Borries drove in a run. Wente had two singles.
Effingham had five hits, all singles by five different players. Nunamaker drove in a run.
