Area teams pounded out lots of runs in taking high school softball victories Monday.

Effingham St. Anthony was a 19-2 winner over Shelbyville. The Bulldogs held a 5-1 opening inning edge then had a 14-1 second inning.

The Bulldogs had nine hits led by Sydney Kibler with a double, triple and five RBI.  Addie Wernsing added a solo home run. Lucy Fearday and Madeline Kibler had a double each. Fearday drove in a run. Kenzie Kabbes added a single and two RBI. Abbie Hatton had a single and an RBI while Adysen Rios and Haley Niebrugge had an RBI each.

S. Kibler and Wernsing threw two innings each. Kibler picked up the win, allowing two runs on two hits, no walks and three strikeouts. Wernsing threw the final two innings, allowing no runs on one hit and three strikeouts.

At St. Anthony

At HIllsboro

Effingham High School banged out 11 hits in a 13-1 win in six innings Monday.

The Hearts edged out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning then tallied four in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and finished the game with four in the sixth.

EHS had 11 hits and was aided by seven Hiltoppers errors.

Daelyn Dunston had a single, double and drove in three runs for the Hearts. Abby Cunningham had two singles and three RBI, Riley Cunningham a single and double, Grace Bushur a double and an RBI, Sidney Donaldson two singles and Sawyer Althoff a single and an RBI. Mya Harvey added an RBI.

Saige Althoff picked up the win on the mound going six innings, allowing one run on two hits, two walks while striking out 13.

At Hillsboro

At Altamont

Altamont handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 10-0 loss in six innings Monday.

The Indians had 11 hits in the contest led by Juliana Berg with two doubles and an RBI, Ellie McManaway with a single, double and triple, Lanie Tedrick had a single, triple and two RBI, Claire Boehm two singles and two RBI and Bailey Teasley with a double and an RBI. Grace Lemke added a single and an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown's two hits were singles by Kelly Moss.

Teasley picked up the win in the mound going all six innings, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk while striking out 15.

At Altamont

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis ended its game in the third inning by a 16-1 count over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

T-town led 5-1 going into the bottom of the third then scored 11 runs.

The Wooden Shoes had 14 hits led by Emily Konkel, with a double, triple and two RBI, Courtney Gibson with a single, triple and three RBI, Jordan Goeckner with a single, double and two RBI, Danielle Sarchet with a double and two RBI, Daisha Piedra with a double and an RBI, Kaylee Niebrugge two singles and an RBI, Erin Althoff with two singles, Estella Mette with a single and two RBI and Olivia Copple with a single and an RBI.

Goeckner went the three innings on the mound allowing one run on two hits, no walks and four strikeouts.

CHBC's hits were a double by Addison Wasson and a single by Karlee Smith.

At Teutopolis

Dieterich took a 6-0 first inning lead and had a nine run third to end the game by a 15-0 count over Martinsville Monday.

The Movin' Maroons had 12 hits and were aided by four Martinsville errors.

Kaitlyn Boerngen, Marli Michl and Lucie Jansen had two doubles and two RBI each for the Maroons. Courtney Brummer added a single, double and an RBI and Estella Meinhart had a double and an RBI. Ruby Westendorf and Megan Bierman had a single and an RBI each.

Michl was the winning pitcher, going three innings allowing two hits, no walks and striking out three.

At Martinsville

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg had a 16-hit attack in a 20-5 win over Neoga Monday.

The Hatchets' Ava Richards had a single, triple and three RBI while Alaira Friese had a single, triple and two RBI. Sam Hayes had a single, double and three RBI, Gabby Vonderheide three singles and three RBI, Maddy Pfeiffer a home run and two RBI and Natalie Hayes and Karlie Bean two singles and an RBI each. Ella Kinkelaar added a double and an RBI.

Bean was the winner on the mound, going two innings allowing three runs on four hits, four walks and striking out six. S. Hayes came on to finish out the final two innings allowing two runs on three hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Neoga was led in hitting by Haylee Campbell with two double and three RBI, Avery Fearday with two singles, Caitlyn Sparling with a double and Trista Moore with a single and two RBI.

At Strasburg
