All-Area Softball Team Named By Herald & Review

The Decatur Herald & Review named its All-Area Softball Team and the list included two Effingham St. Anthony High School players.

Cameron Rios, a sophomore infielder was named. She had a .582 batting average and scored 50 times during the season. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the National Trail Conference.

Lucy Fearday, a sophomore, is a pitcher. She tossed 114 innings and threw a shutout win against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in the Class 1A State semifinals. St. Anthony finished second at State. Fearday was named to the National Trail Conference First Team.

Other members of the All-Area Team were Makenzie Brown (Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond), Anna Enlow (Meridian), Daleny Chumbley (Tri-County/Sangamon Valley), Daytona Fowler (Warrensburg-Latham), Reagan McGahey (Charleston), Hallie Mitchell (Maroa-Forsyth), Aaliyah Jackson (Decatur MacArthur), Kaitlyn Reifsteck (Tuscola), Gwen Bender (Mount Zion) and Cassi Newbanks (Argenta-Oreana).

Gaining Honorable Mention were Riley Cunningham (sophomore from Effingham), Jaidi Davis (senior from Effingham), Emma Hardiek (senior from Effingham), Madion Kibler (freshman from St. Anthony), Sydney Kibler (freshman from St. Anthony), Emily Konkel (sophomore from Teutopolis) and Tia Probst (junior from Teutopolis).
