Effingham Junior High School picked up a 6-3 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in softball action Wednesday.

The Mustangs edged out to a 2-1 lead after two innings then tallied two in the third. WSS pulled within 4-3 in the fifth but the Mustangs scored two for the win in the sixth.

Natalie Armstrong led Effingham with three singles and two RBI while Ina Mapes had two singles and an RBI.

WSS was led by Clarissa Johnson with two singles and Leah Kasey with a single and two RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central trounced Salem Wednesday, 13-3.

 

The game ended after six innings due to the 10-run rule. Salem took a 1-0 first inning lead but South Central tallied four runs in the second. Salem pulled within 4-3 in the top of the fourth but South Central came back with three in the bottom of the frame and six in the sixth.

South Central had eight hits led by Logan with a single, double and two RBI, Feldhake witht wo singles and two RBI and Reid with a double and two RBI.

The winners improve to 3-0 on the season and will travel to Neoga Friday.

At Kinmundy

At Robinson

Jasper County fell to Robinson, 7-4 in Wednesday action.

The loss was the first for the Newton-based school and the team falls to 3-1. The squad returns to action Thursday at Casey.
