NEWTON -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School split victories at the Jasper County Softball Round Robin Saturday.

 

In the opener, the Bullpups trounced Oblong, 15-1 in four innings.

St. Anthony ran off to a 9-1 opening inning lead and ended the game in the fourth inning.

The Bullpups had nine hits led by L. Gannaway with a single, double and three RBI, C. Hartmann with two singles and two RBI, L. Hoene with two singles and an RBI, A. Bunton with a double, S. Vineyard with a single and two RBI and J. Schutlz with a single and an RBI.

M. Kinkelaar, threw two innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and three strikeouts for the win on the mound.

St. Anthony then fell to Jasper County, 7-2. Jasper County edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead then tacked on two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

K. Holder led Jasper County with a triple and four RBI, M. Miller with a double and A. Reich with a single and an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Gannaway with two singles and C. Emmerich with a double.

South Central Round Robin

South Central dominated in its round robin Saturday.

South Central pounded out 14 hits and tallied a 19-2 win over Ramsey in the opener.

Thompson had a single, double, triple and five RBI while Logan had two doubles and three RBI, Swift, a single, double and four RBI. Peddicord had a single, and double, Feldhake two singles and two RBI and Boyd a double and an RBI.

In the second game, Dieterich bounced Ramsey, 18-6. Dieterich edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead then pushed ahead 8-4 in the second and 11-6 in the third. Dieterich finished off the contest in the fifth with seven runs.

Dieterich had 13 hits led by C. Faller with two singles, a double and an RBI, L. Meinhart with three singles and three RBI, A. Boergen with two singles and three RBI, A. Huber with a double and two RBI and C. Goebel with two singles.

The final contest went to South Central over Dieterich, 15-1. Both teams had six hits.

South Central was led by Noschese, Brown and Logan with a double and two RBI each.

Dieterich was led by Faller with three singles and an RBI.

Paris Mayo Round Robin

PARIS -- Altamont fell twice in the Paris Mayo Round Robin Saturday.

Altamont lost the opener to the host squad, 8-1. Altamont tallied its lone run in the first inning.

A. Roberts led Altamont with three singles.

In the second game, Villa Grove claimed a 14-1 win in five innings over Altamont.

Villa Grove stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

Altamont had three hits, singles by A. Roberts, A. Fleeharty and E. Nelson. Nelson added an RBI.

Cumberland Round Robin

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Teutopolis in the Cumberland Round Robin Saturday.

The two teams tallied a run each in the first inning. T-town took a 2-1 lead in the third. WSS then scored three runs in the fourth and held off the Wooden Shoes for the win.

Z. Wascher had two singles and an RBI for the winners while M. Friese had a single and an RBI.

T-town was led by L. Kemme and K. Hartke with a single each. Kemme added an RBI while O. Wermert had an RBI.

Cumberland then claimed a victory over Teutopolis, 3-1. Cumberland took a 2-0 firsti nning lead and led 3-0 after three. T-town scored its lone run in the fourth.

M. Helmink had two doubles for the Wooden Shoes while Kemme had two singles.

Cumberland was led by N. Beaumont with two singles and two RBI.

Windsor/Stew-Stras tallied a 3-1 win over Cumberland to take the round robin.

WSS stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead. Cumberland scored its run in the second.

WSS had two hits led by Kendra Hayes with a double and an RBI and Clarissa Johnson with a single.

Cumberland had five hits led by Beaumont with two singles.
