EHS Drops Loss to Sacred Heart Griffin; Area Roundup

SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham traveled to Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin and fell 3-1 in softball action Monday evening.
Sacred Heart edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then added on with a run in the third. The Hearts pulled within 2-1 in the top of the sixth but Springfield tacked on a final run in the bottom of the inning.
The Hearts outhit the winners 6-4. Kelli Utz led the way with two singles. Shelby Nunamaker had a single and drove in the Hearts lone run. EHS drops to 3-3 on the season.

Teutopolis bounced Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 14-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.
The Wooden Shoes' Kaitlin Smith was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with four walks and four strikeouts. Kara Swingler came on in relief in the fifth allowing no hits, no walks and striking out one.
T-town had 13 hits in the game led by Hardiek with three singles and three RBI. Kadi Borries had a home run and two RBI. Nine other players had one hit each.
BCCH's lone hit was a single by Kacie Hilt. The Eagles fall to 0-6.

Windsor claimed a 7-1 victory over Dieterich. Lindsay Floyd was the winning pitcher while Heidi Thoele picked up the loss. Floyd pitched a six-hitter with one walk and 14 strikeouts.
Dieterich is now 2-3 on the season and is back in action Friday at South Central.

Stew-Stras broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the third. Kendall Knop picked up the pitching won on a six-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts. Linday Burton had two singles and an RBI.
Neoga was led by Allison Posten with two singles and two RBI. The Indians drop to 1-2 in the conference, 3-4 overall.
