EHS Beats CHBC, S. Central Nab Softball Wins

BEECHER CITY -- Behind a 12-hit attack and a two-hit pitching performance by Jaidi Davis, Effingham High School handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 14-0 softball loss Wednesday.

Davis went the distance for the Hearts, allowing only two hits, one walk while striking out 10.

The Hearts were led in the hitting department by Taylor Armstrong with a single, double and three RBI, Grace Bushur with two singles and an RBI, Natalie Lohman with two singles and Raegan Boone, Davis, Abby Cunnngham, Sawyer Althoff, Daelyn Dunston and Makala McDaniel with a single and an RBI each.

CHBC had two hits, doubles by Madison Cherry and Haley Evans.

At Kinmundy

South Central improved to 21-4 on the season with an 8-3 win over Fairfield Wednesday.

The Cougars held a 2-1 lead after three innings then tallied two in the fourth and four in the sixth.

Once again, South Central provided lots of hits. Laney Webster led the way with two singles and a triple while Brooklyn Garrett had a single, double and an RBI. Five other players had a single each. Jaylyn Michel drove in two runs while Sydnee Garrett, Jordan Geiler and Meagan Smith had an RBI each.

Halle Smith was the winning pitcher on a six-hitter.

At St. Joseph

Teutopolis fell to St. Joseph-Ogden in action Wednesday, 2-0.

St. Joseph-Ogden scored both runs in the third inning and finished with six hits in the contest.

The Wooden Shoes had three hits with two singles by Kaylee Niebrugge and a single from Emiliy Konkel.

Courtney Gibson suffered the tough-luck loss, allowing two runs on six hits, two walks while striking out four.

At St. Joseph

Robinson tallied a 7-2 victory over Dieterich in Wednesday action.

Robinson moved ahead 1-0 in the first and held that lead until the fourth then tallied four and two more in the sixth.

Dieterich scored both its runs in the top of the seventh.

Dieerich had five hits led by Cortney Brummer with two singles, Madilyin Brummer with a single and an RBI and Megan Bierman and Breanna Shull with a single each.
