Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed the NTC Tournament championship.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg produced 14 runs on 13 hits and handed Effingham St. Anthony a 14-5 loss in the championship game of the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament.

Karlie Bean went the distance on the mound, allowing five runs on 12 hits, three walks and striking out six.

The Hatchets took a 4-1 opening inning lead and led 7-3 after four innings. They tacked on two more in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Hitting stars for the Hatchets were Gabby Vonderheide with three singles and four RBI, Bean with three singles and two RBI, Sam Porter with two singles and two RBI, Maddy Pfeiffer with two singles and an RBI and Ella Kinkelaar and Hannah Hayes with a triple each.

St. Anthony had 12 hits led by Cameron Rios with three singles, a double and two RBI, Lucy Fearday with two singles, a double and an RBI and Alexis Stephens with two singles.

In the third place contest, Altamont's Bailey Teasley kept the hot-hitting South Central under control, throwing a two-hitter with three walks and 12 strikeouts. Unfortunately for the Indians, the Cougars found a way to pull out a 2-1 victory.

Altamont held a 1-0 lead in the fourth before South Central tied in the fifth and won it in the bottom of the seventh.

South Central had only two hits, singles by Halle Smith and the game-winner by Brooklyn Garrett who singled in the seventh with two out, scoring the winning run. The Cougars are now 20-4 on the season.

Altamont had three hits led by Olivia Eckhardt with a double and an RBI.

In the consolation championship, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City blanked Dieterich, 3-0.

Madison Cherry picked up the win on the mound. She went all seven innings, allowing three hits, no walks and struck out 11.

CHBC took a 1-0 lead in the second and scored two more runs in the fifth.

The Bobcats had six hits led by Cherry with a triple and an RBI and Sydney Dunaway with two singles. Haley Evans added an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Kaitlyn Boerngen with a double and triple.

At Effingham

Mahomet-Seymour came to town and headed home with an Apollo Conference doubleheader win over Effingham Tuesday.

The Bulldogs took the opener 5-3, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie.

The Hearts outhit M-S by a 7-6 count. Abby Cunningham had a double and drove in two runs while Riley Cunningham had a double and an RBI. Tori Budde finished with two singles.

K. Yergler went the distance for Mahomet-Seymour, finishing with 11 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Bulldogs edged EHS, 12-11. Mahomet-Seymour held a 7-5 lead in the fourth and pushed that to 12-5 in the top of the sixth. EHS came back with six in the bottom of the frame only to fall a run short.

The Hearts had 10 hits and were aided by 10 Bulldog errors. Budde had a single and double, Taylor Armstrong and Jaidi Davis two singles and an RBI each, Grace Bushur a double and three RBI and Jacy Boatman a double.

At Teutopolis

Mattoon came callng and took home a 4-1 win over Teutopolis in Tuesday action.

The Wooden Shoes struck first, scoring a run in the second inning. They held that lead until the fourth when Mattoon tallied three and tacked on a final run in the fifth.

T-town was led in hitting by Daischa Piedra with two singles, Estella Mette with a single and an RBI and Erin Atlhoff with a single.
