Effingham St. Anthony blanked Altamont 9-0 in softball action Monday behind an 11-hit attack.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had two-run innings in the third and fourth and four in the fifth.

Madeline Kibler had a double, home run and three RBI for the Bulldogs while Cameron Rios had two singles and a double. Lucy Fearday added a single, double and an RBI and Addie Wernsing a double and two RBI. Haley Niebrugge had two RBI.

Feaday went three innings for the win on the mound. She did not allow a hit or walk and struck out seven.

Altamont finished with three hits, all singles by Kimberly Brummer, Ellie McManaway and Peyton Osteen.

At Dieterich

With 19 hits, South Central produced an 18-2 win over Dieterich in Monday softball action.

The Cougars have been a hot-hitting team all season long. Taegan Webster had two singles, two doubles and drove in two runs while Brooklyn Garrett had three singles, a double and two RBI. Sydnee Garrett had a single, double and two RBI. Kayli Swift finished with two singles and two RBI. Halle Smith had a single, double and four RBI. Jordan Geiler added a double and an RBI while Lily Malone had a double.

T. Webster went the five innings allowing two runs on seven hits, no walks and nine strikeouts for the win on the mound. The Cougars improved to 5-1 in the National Trail Conference and 19-4 overall.

Dieterich was led by M. Bierman with two singles and J. Pruemer and E. Meinhart with a double each. Meinhart added an RBI.

At St. Elmo

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg broke open a 0-0 tie with an 11-run fourth inning then added on seven in the fifth for an 18-0 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday.

The Hatchets finished with 16 hits in the contest led by Karlie Bean with three singles, a double and three RBI while Natalie Hayes had two triples and five RBI, Maddy Pfeiffer and Gabby Vonderheide with a single, double and an RBI each. Hannah Hayes had a double and an RBI and Ella Kinkelaar two singles and two RBI.

H. Hayes was the winning pitcher, going five inings allowing no runs on three hits, six walks and three strikeouts.

SEB was led by Carson, Wright and Putnam with a single each.

At Flora

Flora edged Newton, 7-6 in Monday softball action.

The Wolves held a 2-1 first inning lead then added on three in the second. Newton pulled within 5-4 in the third but Flora tallied another run in the bottom of the frame. Newton scored single runs in the fourth and sixth to knot the score at 6-6. But Flora scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Eagles outhit Flora 11-8 but had four errors.

Newton was led by A. Russell with three singles and P. Kinder, K. Kocher, E. Kidwell and G. Michel had two singles each. Kocher added two RBI.
