Fearday Throws Perfect Game In Win, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School's Lucy Fearday threw a perfect game Monday as the Bulldogs blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 9-0 in softball action.
Fearday went the distance on the mound, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out 12.
The Bulldogs took a 3-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two in the second and four in the fifth.
Cameron Rios had two singles while Addie Wernsing had a single and an RBI. Sydney Kibler added a single and Fearday had an RBI.

At Kinmundy
Neither team scored through four innings of the National Trail Conference contest before South Central broke the scoring drought with a run in the fifth. Altamont tied in the top of the sixth before the Cougars regained the lead in the bottom of the frame with two and claimed a 3-1 victory Monday.
Both teams had six hits but Altamont committed six errors.
Sydnee Garrett led the way for the Cougars with a single, home run and two RBI while Brooklyn Garrett had a single and double and Kayli Swift two singles.
Garrett also was the winner on the mound going all seven innings, allowing six hits, one walk while striking out 11.
Bailey Teasley suffered the loss going six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, no walks while striking out 10.
Teasley led Altamont in hitting with a single and double while Ellie McManaway had three singles.
In the second game, a non-conference matchup, South Central opened with an 11-run first inning and won 22-0 in three innings.
Halle Smith threw a no-hitter.
South Central was led by S. Garrett with two home runs and five RBI, Taegan Webster with three singles, a double and two RBI, Smith three singles, a double and two RBI, Laney Webster with two singles, a home run and five RBI and Jaylyn Michel with four singes and two RBI.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis edged Newton, 8-7 in high school softball action Monday.
The Woodne Shoes took a 3-0 first inning lead but Newton came back within a run, scoring two in the second. Newton then tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the fifth and moved ahead 7-3 in the sixth.
But the Wooden Shoes rallied and knotted the score in the bottom of the seventh with four runs then won the game in the eighth.
T-town had nine hits in the contest led by Kaylee Niebrugge with a single, triple and three RBI. Danielle Sarchet had a double. Erin Althoff, Emily Konkel, Tia Probst and Estella Mette had a single and drove in a run each.
Newton was led by A. Russell with a single, double and two RBI, E. Kidwell with two singles and an RBI and P. Kinder with two singles.
Probst picked up the pitching win, going all eight innings, allowing 10 hits, seven walks and four strikeouts.
