The Hearts fell in the opener, 10-0 in five innings. Mattoon took the win with a six-run second, a three-run third and ended the game in the fifth with the final run.
Effingham could muster only one hit against Mattoon's Raven Morrison. The Hearts' Riley Cunningham had a single.
Morrison finished with one walk and 12 strikeouts. The Green Wave had 11 hits led by Xylia Greeson with a single, home run and four RBI, Hannah Hopper with two singles and an RBI and Delainey Bryant with a single, double and an RBI.

At Strasburg
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg played host to Arcola in Friday action and claimed an 11-4 victory.
The Hatchets banged out 15 hits in the contest led by Ella Kinkelaar with four singles and two RBI. Hannah Hayes added a single, double and two RBI, Ava Richards a double, Karlie Bean, 2 singles and an RBI and Natalie Hayes two singles. Maddy Pfeiffer had a single and three RBI.
Bean claimed the win on the mound. She went three innings allowing three runs on two hits, two walks and eight strikeouts.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis played three games over the weekend and claimed one victory.
The Wooden Shoes downed Salt Fork 7-3 in Friday action. The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 4-2 opening inning lead and then scored single runs over the next three innings.
T-town had nine hits in the contest and was aided by four Salt Fork errors.
Lexie Niebrugge had a single, triple and three RBI while Courtney Gibson had a single, double and an RBI and Danielle Sarchet a triple. Erin Atlhoff, Tia Probst and Kaylee Niebrugge had a single and drove in a run each.
Gibson picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and striking out five.
Then in Saturday Apollo Conference action, Mount Zion downed T-town twice.
The Braves won the opener 6-4. The Wooden Shoes held a 2-1 lead through the fourth before Mount Zion tallied three in the fifth and two in the sixth. T-town's seventh inning rally fell short.
Mount Zion had nine hits while T-town had seven. The Shoes were led by Estelle Mette with two singles, a double and an RBI and Emily Konkel with a single and triple.
In the second contest, Mount Zion pulled out a 4-3 victory in eight innings.
The Braves held a 3-0 lead until the bottom of the seventh when the Shoes tied the score sending the game into extra innings. The Braves then came back in the top of the eighth with a run for the win.
T-town had eight hits led by Sarchet with a single and double, Konkel with a triple and an RBI, K. Niebrugge with a double and Mette with two singles.

At Woodlawn
South Central claimed a doubleheader over Woodlawn Saturday.
The Cougars won the opener 9-8. Woodlawn held a 5-4 lead after three innings but the score was tied at 8-8 after five. South Central scored the winning run in the sixth.
Halle Smith had two doubles, a home run and three RBI while Sydnee Garrett had a double and an RBI. Jaylyn Michel added two singles and two RBI while Jordan Geiler had two singles, a double and an RBI.
In the second contest, South Central again took the same 9-8 win. The Cougars held an 8-1 lead after two innings and scored a final run in the fifth.
Kaylie Swift had two home runs and knocked in five RBI. S. Garrett had a home run and two RBI, Laney Webster a single and double, Brooklyn Garrett a solo homer and Megan Smith two singles and an RBI.
The Cougars imrpove to 12-3 on the season.

Dieterich bounced Martinsville to the tune of 13-3 in five innings Friday.
The Movin' Maroons stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and led 7-2 after two. Dieterich had three-run innings in the fourth and fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Cortney Brummer had a single, double and three RBI for the winners while Megan Bierman had two singles and two RBI, Madilyn Brummer two singles and Ruby Westendorf and Olivia Brummer with a single and two RBI each.
J. Pruemer was the winning pitcher going three innings allowing three runs on five hits, no walks and three st rikeouts.

Vandalia edged Altamont 5-4 by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh Friday.
The Indians held a 1-0 lead in the first before Vandalia scored three in the second and one in the fourth. Altamont came back with a three-run sixth to tie the score at 4-4.
Both teams had eight hits. Altamont was led by Taylor Mette with two singles and an RBI and Peyton Osteen with a single and an RBI. Five other players had a single each.
