Effingham St. Anthony stepped out to a 10-0 opening inning lead and trounced St. Elmo/Brownstown, 17-1 in four innings of high school softball action Monday.

The Bulldogs had four players with multiple hits and finished with 16 overall.

Sydney Kibler led the way with a single, home run and three RBI while Cameron Rios had a single, double and an RBI and Alexis Stephens and Anna Faber two singles and an RBI each.

Lucy Fearday, Grace Karolewicz and Chloe Stanley had a double each. Fearday and Karolewicz had an RBI each.

Addie Wernsing and Stacie Vonderheide had a single and two RBi each.

Vonderheide went two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, no walks and striking out two for the win on the mound.

SEB was led by L. Seabaugh, H. Wright, A. Putnam and M. Hall with a single each. Putnam drove in the lone run.

At Effingham

Effingham High School handed Neoga an 18-1 loss in four innings Monday.

The Hearts edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then had a 10-run second, scored two in the third and five in the fourth.

EHS tallied 13 hits in the contest. Emma Hardiek hit a home run and had three RBI while Natalie Lohman had two singles and three RBI, Jacy Boatman a single, double and an RBI and Grace Bushur two singles and four RBI. Jaidi Davis added a double and an RBI. Sawyer Althoff had a single and drove in two runs and Daelyn Dunston had two RBI.

Neoga had one hit, a single by Burcham.

Davis went four innings on the mound, allowing one run on one hit, three walks and striking out six.

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Ruby Stuckemeyer was on fire from the plate while Madison Cherry was unstoppable on the mound in leading the Bobcats to a 7-3 win over Mulberry Grove Monday.

Stuckemeyer had two singles, two doubles and drove in two runs. Madison Cherry went the distance on the mound, allowing three runs on three hits, one walk while striking out a whopping 17 batters.

Cherry also aided her own cause with a solo homer while Marissa Summers had a single, double and an RBI and Madison Wojcik two singles.

CHBC took a 2-0 first inning lead and had a three-run fourth.

South Central dominated this contest, taking a 12-2 win in five innings over Ramsey Monday.

The Cougars' Halle Smith threw a two-hitter and also was on offensively wtih two singles and an RBI.

Sydnee Garrett had a double, home run and drove in three runs while Jaylyn Michel had two singles, a triple and two RBI. Brooklyn Garrett and Laney Webster had a double each.

South Central improved to 7-2 on the season.

Altamont fell victim to Okaw Valley in a 5-0 loss Monday.

The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings. Okaw Valley scored a single run in the fourth and finished out with four in the fifth.

Altamont had three hits in the contest led by Abby Goeckner with a double.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond stepped out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and that's all it took in a 3-0 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.

ALAH had four hits in the game led by Makenzie Brown with two doubles and an RBI.. Kaci Beachy had a single and drove in two runs.

WIndsor/Stew-Stras had two hits in the game, singles by Ella Kinkelaar and Karlie Bean.

The winning pitcher, Brown, gave up two hits, four walks while striking out 20.

Bean suffered the tough-luck loss on the mound, gonig seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits, four walks while striking out seven.

At Strasburg

Dieterich fell to Hutsonville/Palestine, 11-2 in Monday action.

H/P took a 4-0 second inning lead then had a two-run fourth. Dieterich scored its runs in the fifth and sixth.

Sheets threw a one-hitter with no walks while striking out 15.

The lone hit for the Movin' Maroons was a single by C. Brummer.
