Bulldogs Claim DH Wins, Shoes, Cougars, Maroons Take Softball Victories

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed a high school softball doubleheader over Robinson Tuesday.

The Bulldogs tallied a 12-10 win in the opener behind a 19-hit attack. Robinson led 5-2 after the first inning before St. Anthony tied in the third. The Maroons moved ahead 9-5 in the fourth before the Bulldogs scored a run in the sixth and finished out strong with six in the seventh.

St. Anthony was led in hitting by Lucy Fearday with three singles, a double and an RBI, Cameron Rios and Alexis Stephens with three singles each. Stephens had two RBI and Rios one. Anna Faber with a single, double and an RBI, Sydney Kibler with two singles and three RBI and Grace Karolewicz with two singles.

Fearday was the winning pitcher going 6.1 innings in relief, allowing five runs on five hits, no walks while striking out nine.

In the second contest, St. Anthony broke a 4-4 opening inning tie with two runs in the second, then tacked on three in the fourth, two in the fifth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh for an 18-9 victory.

Along with the 18 runs came 18 hits led by Madeline Kibler with three singles, a double and two RBI, Stacie Vonderheide with a single, two doubles and two RBI. Haley Niebrugge with a single, doubleand an RBI, Fearday with a single, double and four RBI, Chloe Stanley with two singles and two RBI, and S. Kibler and Rios with two singles each. Kibler had two RBI and Rios one.

Addie Wernsing picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing six runs on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

At Altamont

Teutopolis blanked Altamont 13-0 in five innings Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 3-0 first inning lead until the fourth then scored four more runs. T-town ended the game via the 10-run rule in the fifth with six runs.

Coach Crystal Tipton's squad had 10 hits in the contest while Altamont commited six errors.

Danielle Sarchet led the way for the Shoes with a single, double, triple and an RBI while Erin Althoff added a triple and three RBI. Emily Konkel and Kaylee Niebrugge had two singles each. Anna Buhnerkemper had a single and drove in two runs.

Courtney Gibson went five innings on the mound, alowing two hits, no walks while striking out 10.

Altamont was led by Macey Christy with a triple and Bailey Teasley with a double.

At Odin

South Central stepped out to an early lead and went on to pound Odin, 21-2 in six innings Tuesday.

The Cougars led 10-2 going into the sixth then had an 11-run inning.

Taegan Webster, a freshman, had a single, double, triple and drove in two runs for the winners. Kayli Swift had two singles, a home run and four RBI. Sydnee Garrett had four singles, a double and three RBI. Maeagn Smith added a single, double and three RBI and Jordan Geiler two singles, a double and an RBI. Lily Malone and Jaylyn Michel had a double each. Malone drove in two doubles and Michel one.

The Cougars improved to 5-2 on the season.

Dieterich took the opening inning lead and went on for a 14-4 win in six innings Tuesday over Ramsey.

Dieterich led 6-4 then scored eight runs to end the game in the sixth.

The Movin' Maroons had 13 hits in the contest and was aided by five Ramsey errors. C. Brummer led the way with three singles, a double and an RBI while M. Brummer and M. Bierman had two singles and an RBI each. J. Pruemer, R. Westendorf and E. Meinhart had a double each. Westendorf had three RBI while Pruemer had two.

K. Boerngen went the distance on the mound allowing four runs on four hits, three walks while striking out 12.
