Effingham St. Anthony High School handled Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick's softball team easily Monday for a 21-0 victory in five innings.

The Bulldogs had a seven-run first, then tacked on three in the second and two in the third to end the contest via the 10-run rule.

St. Anthony put together a 17-hit attack with four players banging out three hits apiece. Makayla Walsh had two singles, a home run and five RBI while Morgan Gardewine had a single, double, triple and three RBI. Kristen Schuette had two singles, a triple and two RBI while Meghan Woltman had three singles and two RBI.

Walsh and Schuette pitched for the Bulldogs. Walsh went four innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two while Schuette went an inning, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out two.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick's two hits came from Heather Lawrence and Autumn Riley with a single each.

At Sullivan

Sullivan claimed a 15-5 victory over Neoga in six innings. Sullivan held a 8-3 lead after three then had a two-run fourth and a five-run sixth to end the game.

Sullivan had 13 hits while Neoga had eight. Albin had two hits and two RBI to lead Neoga.

It was a grand day as Cumberland blasted out two grand slam home runs to beat Edwards County (Albion) 21-1 in five innings.

The Pirates' Katie Poe and Ashley Greger both had grand slam home runs and also had a single each and finished with four RBI. Jasie McMechan picked up the pitching win and had four singles and three RBI.

McMechan pitched five innings, allowing five hits, one run, one walk and struck out two.

Greenville claimed a 12-0 victory over St. Elmo in five innings. Greenville stepped out to an 11-0 opening inning lead and never looked back.

St. Elmo had two hits in the contest, singles by Feezel and Pruett. The Eagles drop to 1-4 on the season.
