Cumberland Blasts Lawrenceville, 19-4

GREENUP -- Cumberland High School blasted out 18 hits and scored 19 runs in trouncing Lawrenceville 19-4 in five innings via the 10-run rule in girls softball action Thursday.
The Pirates tallied four runs in the second and never looked back. Taylor Layton had a single, double and a grand slam. She finished with five RBI. Olivia Titus and Audrey Casey had solo shots each. Jasie McMechan had two singles, a triple and drove in three runs. Katie Poe had two doubles and Ashley Greger a single, two doubles and two RBI.
Cumberland improves to 3-0 and will host Mattoon in a doubleheader Saturday.
