Teutopolis Improves to 2-0 w/Friday Win

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes improved to 2-0 on the softball season with a 12-7 win over the Dieterich Movin Maroons Friday.

Kadi Borries got the win for T-Town with five innings of work, allowing five earned runs on five hits, walking three and fanning nine.  Smith started and pitched the first inning, allowing two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out two.  Madison Cowman got the final two outs, walking one and fanning one.

Thoele took the loss for Dieterich, allowing seven runs, five earned, on eight hits while walking four and striking out three in four innings of work.  Sydney Higgs worked the final two innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits, walking two with one strikeout.

There were plenty of heroes at the plate for both teams.

For Teutopolis, Kadi Borries homered, scored twice and drove in two runs; Dakota Swingler doubled and scored twice; Annie Borries doubled twice and singled, scored twice and drove in three runs; Madison Cowman doubled and scored twice; Allison Apke tripled and singled twice, scored and drove in four runs; Tara Stephens doubled and scored; Courtney Mersman singled and drove in a run; J. Waldhoff singled, scored and drove in a run; and Emily Weichman scored a run.

For Dieterich, Garbe singled and scored; Sydney Higgs scored twice; Mallorie Vahling tripled and singled twice, scored twice and drove in a run; Cox doubled and singled, scored and drove in three runs; Wendling doubled twice, scored and drove in two runs; and Thoele singled.

Teutopolis is back in action Monday at home against Salem.

In other softball action Friday, Cumberland blanked Sullivan 15-0.  McMechan threw a five-inning no-hitter and had three hits; Thornton had four hits and Titus two hits.

Also, Olney East Richland defeated Flora 2-1.
