Effingham Junior High School claimed the championship of a Class 3A Softball Regional Saturday.

The Mustangs defeated Jasper County, 8-5.

 

Class 1A Regional

South Central edged Mulberry Grove, 7-6 to win the 1A regional championship.

Mulberry Grove took a 3-0 first inning lead but South Central tallied five in the second. Mulberry Grove scored a run in the third. South Central pushed its lead to 7-4 with single runs in the fourth and fifth. Mulberry Grove made a comeback in the sixth only to fall short.

South Central had seven hits led by Thompson and Watwood with a single, triple and two RBI each.

South Central is 11-6 on the season,

Class 2A Regional

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed the Class 2A Regional championship Saturday.

WSS broke a 1-1 first inning tie with one in the second then tacked on three more in the fifth for a 5-1 win over Moweaqua Central A&M.

Samantha Hayes threw a one-hitter with two walks and a whopping 17 strikeouts.

Hayes also had a big day at the plate with a single, double and two RBI. Brinlie Durbin had a single and drove in two runs.

Class 2A Regional

Class 2A Regional

Teutopolis played host to Clay City and claimed a 17-2 win in three innings Saturday for the regional crown.

T-town took an 8-1 opening inning lead then added on three in the second and six in the third.

The Wooden Shoes had 13 hits and were aided by six Clay City errors.

M. Ruholl had a single, triple, home run and six RBI for the winners while O. Kemme had a single, triple and two RBI. M. Helmink had a single and double while M. Bloemer and K. Frese had a double and an RBI each. K. Zerrusen finished with two singles and two RBI.

M. Helmink threw a two-hitter with three walks and five RBI.

Class 2A Regional

Class 1A Regional

Dieterich claimed the Class 1A regional championship.

Dieterich blanked Hutsonville/Palestine, 8-0.

 

Class 2A Regional

Casey-Westfield claimed an 8-2 win over Marshall to win a Class 2A Regional title.
