Effingham outhit and outpitched Mount Zion in a 10-5 junior high school softball victory Wednesday.

The Mustangs trailed Mount Zion 3-2 after three innings then cut loose with three in the fourth and five in the sixth.

Saige Althoff went six innings allowing three hits, four runs, three walks while striking out 10 for the win on the mound. Bria Beals came on to throw the final inning allowing one run, one hit and striking out one.

HItting wise, Effingham had 10 led by Kristen Armstrong with a single, double and three RBI, Beals with three singles, Madi Kirk with two singles and Jerzi Bierman with a double and an RBI.
