CHARLESTON, S.C. – Senior Allison Apke (Teutopolis) hit her first home run of the season to highlight a nine-run second inning and freshman Morgan Radford threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout to earn her first career win as Bradley Softball blanked North Carolina A&T 11-0 Friday morning to open play at the Charleston Classic.

Bradley (6-5 overall) took advantage of four North Carolina A&T (1-7 overall) errors, scoring 11 runs on just seven hits.  Radford struck out a pair and didn't surrender a walk in the two-hit shutout to earn her first collegiate victory.

A nine-run second inning provided Radford with all the scoring she would need to earn the win.

Junior Stacia Seeton opened the inning with a walk and the Braves had first and third with one out after a North Carolina A&T error for senior Brooklyn Bane, who drove in the first run of the contest with a RBI single.

After a walk and hit batter loaded the bases, sophomore Lucy Mead drove in a pair with a double down the right field line.  Mead later scored on another Aggie error and senior Sydney Young came home to make it 5-0 Bradley on a wild pitch.  Senior Kealia Wysocki drove in a run with a RBI single before coming all the way around to score on a double off the bat of Seeton.

Apke capped the nine-run inning with a two-run homer to center.  Radford worked around a hit batter to lead off the bottom of the second for another scoreless frame and the Braves added two more runs in the top of the third.

A pair of North Carolina A&T errors in the third led to a pair of Bradley runs as the Braves pushed the advantage to 11-0. In the bottom of the third, Bradley turned an inning-ending double play to erase a two-out single and Radford worked around a one-out single for a scoreless fourth.  She sat North Carolina A&T down in order in the bottom of the fifth to complete the shutout, improving to 1-2 on the season.

Bradley continues play at the Charleston Classic today with an 11:15 a.m. game against Appalachian State.
