NEWTON -- Jasper County edged Effingham 5-4 in junior high softball action Tuesday.
Jasper County took a 2-0 lead in the fourth but the Mustangs tied in the fifth and moved ahead 3-2 in the top of the frame. Jasper County came back to tally two to lead 4-3. Effingham then tied the score in the top of the seventh but Jasper County scored the winning run in the bottom of the frame.
Jasper County had nine hits led by Grove with three singles and an RBI. Jasper County has a 21-1 record going into regional action.
Effingham was led by M. Harvey with two singles.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg continued its winning ways by blanking Shelbyville, 10-0 in five innings Tuesday.
Addie Wernsing claimed the win on the mound, going four innings, allowing no runs on two hits, three walks and striking out nine. Stacie Vonderheide finished out the final inning with one strikeout.
WSS had seven hits led by Wernsing with three singles and two RBI.

Teutopolis trailed Mattoon but quickly overcame that small deficit to win 12-10 in Tuesday action.
The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits led by Kennidy Wilkins with three hits and three RBI, Erin Althoff and Summer Wall with two hits each. Althoff had an RBI and Wall two. Jordan Goeckner and Olivia Hemmen had a hit and two RBI each.
Hemmen was the winning pitcher.

Patoka had 10 hits while CHBC committed six errors.
Leading CHBC in hitting were Macee Rodman with a double and an RBI and Karlee Smith with a double. Ruby Stuckemeyer added two singles and an RBI.

Neoga handed Dieterich a 17-14 loss in Tuesday competition.
Dieterich led 7-1 after two innings but Neoga started coming back with four runs in the third then moved ahead with six in the fourth. Neoga had seven hits led by H. Campbell with a single, double, home run and six RBI while N. O'Dell had two singles and an RBI.
Dieterich was led by B. Niemerg with two doubles and three RBI, R. Westendorf with a single and double, E. Meinhart with a double and three RBI, F. Verdeyen with a double and an RBI and S. Goebel with two singles and an RBI.

Morgan Hance went four innings, striking out 11, walking six, allowing three hits and four runs, three earned.

The Cubs are now 7-5 on the season and 4-2 in WEAA Conference play.
