TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis Junior High School played host to Effingham in girls softball competition Thursday and edged the Mustangs, 4-3.
The Shoes took a 1-0 first inning lead but EJHS tied in the second and took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth. But the Shoes came back in the bottom of the frame to knot the score and then tallied one in the sixth for the win.
T-town had seven hits led by K. Wilkins with a single, double and two RBI and E. Althoff with two singles.
Effingham was led by S. Althoff with three singles and an RBI and J. Bierman with a single, double and an RBI.

At Dieterich
Dieterich stepped out to a 5-1 opening inning lead on Ramsey and never looked back in a 13-7 victory Thursday.
Dieterich banged out 12 hits led by L. Jansen with two singles, a home run and two RBI, B. Niemerg with two singles and a triple, S. Gobel with a single, double and two RBI, E. Meinhart with a single, triple and two RBI and Westendorf with two singles and two RBI.
B. Niemerg picked up the win on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing four htis, four walks and striking out 15.

At Strasburg
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg stepped out to a 10-0 opening inning lead on Brownstown/St. Elmo and went on for a 15-0 win in three innings.
Samantha Hayes threw a one-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Gabby Vonderheide hit a solo home run while Marisa Daniels had a triple and two RBI.
BSE was led by Sabaugh with a single.

At Casey
This contest went eight innings before Jasper County pulled out a 2-1 victory over Casey-Westfield Thursday.
Casey-Westfield opened with a 1-0 first inning lead. The game went scoreless until the top of the seventh when Jasper County knotted the score at 1-1. Jasper County then tallied the winning run in the eighth.
A. Mulvey threw a five-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.
B. Fritchl had three singles and an RBI for the winners while K. Martin had two singles and A. O'Dell and L. Kessler had a double each .Kessler added an RBI.
At Casey

At Altamont
Altamont fell to Okaw Valley, 14-10 in action Thursday.
Okaw Valley took a 9-1 lead in the second inning. Altamont came back to tie the score at 9-9 in the fourth but couldn't pull out the win.
"Offensively we hit the ball well," said Coach Lindsay VanBlaricum. "Despite getting down early, the girls never gave up and fought back."
Grace Nelson led the team with three singles and a triple and Peyton Garrard with a double.
"Grace Lemke started the game in the circle and never really found her groove," said VanBlaricum. "Peyston Osteen came in in the second inning. She struggled initially but eventually settled in and pitched the next few innings. Grace Nelson came in to finish the game."
Altamont is back in action Saturday at its Opening Day Tournament at Gilbert Park. The first Altamont contest is at 10:30 a.m. against Sullivan.
At Salem
Clay City/North Clay claimed two victories in action Wednesday and Thursday.
In Wednesday play the Cubs edged New Hope, 12-11. Morgan Hance went seven innings, allowing three hits, three walks and striking out 19.
Hance also had a triple and drove in a run while Mallory Boose had a double. Sammie Craig and Sarah Gillett had two singles and two RBI each and Leah Cartright and Keidra Kuenstler two singles.
In action Thursday, Hance threw a no-hitter with three walks and 15 strikeouts. Hance also led the way in hitting with two singles, a double, triple and an RBI. She also stole three bases.
Gillett had four singles and three RBI. Craig had two singles, a triple and four RBI.
Clay City/North Clay is now 3-0 in WEAA conference play and 3-0 overall.
