Effingham St. Anthony ended this junior high softball contest in the third inning by a 19-2 count over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.
The Bullpups had a 14-run second inning. St. Anthony had 13 hits led S. Kibler with a double, home run and four RBI, H. Niebrugge with a single, home run and two RBI, Wines with a double and an RBI and M. Kibler and A. Rios with two singles and two RBI each.
S. Kibler and A. Rios combined to throw a one-hitter.

At Effingham
Effingham handed Mount Zion a 10-6 loss in action Monday. The Mustangs trailed Mount Zion 4-1 in the top of the third. Effingham tallied two in the bottom of the frame and tied the score in the fourth. The score was knotted again after a run in the fifth by the Mustangs and one in the sixth by Mount Zion.
Effingham then had a five-run sixth for the victory. The Mustangs had 12 hits led by S. Althoff with a single, triple and three RBI, S. Donaldson with two singles and three RBI, R. Boone with a triple and B. Beals and M. Kirk with two singles each.

At Strasburg
Addie Wernsing had quite a day for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg as the squad blanked Martinsville 11-0 in five innings Monday.
Wernsing was the winning pitcher, throwing a two-hitter with four walks and six strikeouts. She also led the winners in hitting with a double, triple, home run and four RBI.
Stacie Vonderheide added two singles and an RBI to the winning cause.

Clay City opened the season with a victory over Allendale/St. Mary of Mount Carmel, 13-5 in five innings Monday.
Morgan Hance picked up the pitching win, going all five innings, striking out 12 and allowing three hits.
Hance hit a three-run homer and walked three times. Keidra Kuenstler and Sammie Craig had two singles each. Craig drove in a run.
