Wooden Shoes Head Into Softball Championship Game

Allie Brumleve threw a masterpiece Wednesday as Teutopolis High School blanked Mount Carmel, 3-0 in the Class 2A Newton Softball Sectional.

Brumleve went the distance and allowed only one hit, no walks and registered six strikeouts. Only three Golden Aces players reached base on a single by Sission, an error and a hit batsman.

Meanwhile, the Wooden Shoes tallied two in the first inning and tacked on a final run in the sixth. T-town had only three hits but took advantage of three Mount Carmel errors. Lexie Niebrugge, Holly Heuerman and Alli Bloemer had a single each. Bleomer provided an RBI while Karsyn Mette and Myah Funneman had an RBI each.

In the other contest, Breese Mater Dei downed Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 5-2.

T-town faces Mater Dei at 10 am.. Saturday for the sectional championship. The wnner advances to the Johnston City Super-Sectional Monday to face the winner of the DuQuoin Sectional either PInckneyville or Harrisburg. Those two teams play Friday.

Class 1A South Central Sectional

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran edged Oblong, 9-8 in the South Central Sectional.

The game featuring Red Hill (Bridgeport) against Marissa will be played today.

Centralia CORL will take on either Red Hill or Marissa for the sectional championship Saturday at 11 a.m.
