EHS Coach Jerry Trigg Gets 400th Win

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School claimed a doubleheader softball victory over Taylorville in Apollo Conference action Monday and that gave Coach Jerry Trigg his 400th career coaching win.

 

The Hearts downed the Tornadoes 9-1 behind an 11-hit attack. Effingham's Carsyn Fearday produced a single, double and two RBI while Morgan Krouse and Skyler Schafer had two singles and two RBI each. Emma Hardiek added a double and an RBI.

Taylor Armstrong went the distance on the mound, allowing four hits, one run, two walks and striking out six.

EHS pounded the Tornadoes to the tune of 18-3 to take the doubleheader. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

The Hearts had 13 hits led by Emma Budde with a single, triple and four RBI, Krouse a single, double and an RBI, Jaidi Davis a single, double and two RBI, Riley Seachrist two singles and an RBI, Schafer a double and two RBI and Isabella Kronewitter a double and an RBI.

Davis picked up the win, going four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
