Shoes, Hatchets Nab Girls Softball Wins

The Wooden Shoes held a 3-0 lead in the second but Newton tied and moved ahead 6-3 in the fourth. T-town came back with a run in the sixth and tied the game in the top of the seventh. Then the Shoes tallied the winning run in the eighth.
Allie Brumleve led T-town with a single, double, home run and two RBI while Holly Heuerman added a double and two RBI.
Newton was led by Maddi Hemrich with a double and an RBI. Kenzi Smith had a single and two RBI.

At Mount Zion
Mount Zion stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and tacked on four more in the second. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came back with three in the third and two in the fourth but the Braves continued on and claimed a 12-8 victory handing the Hatchets their first loss of the season Friday in softball action.
The Braves had 15 hits against three WSS pitchers. Meanwhile, WSS had 12 hits led by Megan Schlechte with three singles and two RBI and Hannah Hayes, Mackenzi Tabbert and Calla Roney with two singles each. Tabbert had an RBI. Carson Cole had a double and an RBI and Maddy Pfeiffer a triple.
These two teams played to a 7-7 tie in 10 innings back on March 25.
Mount Zion is now 24-2-1 on the season while WSS stands at 32-1-1.
