WSS, Altamont Claim Softball Victories

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Cumberland tied in the top of the third. The Pirates then pushed ahead with two runs and finished out with a 4-1 victory in softball action Tuesday.
The Hatchets had nine hits in the contest led by Mackenzi Tabbert with a single and double and Megan Schlechte and Ava Bennett with a double and an RBI each. Carson Cole chipped in with two singles and an RBI and Ava Bennett had a double and an RBI.
M. Schlechte threw a six-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Cumberland was led by Madison Hendrix and Allyson Maynard with two singles each.

At Dieterich
Altamont stepped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning and went on to down Dieterich 10-1 Tuesday.
The Indians finished with 10 hits led by Olivia Eckhardt and Katie Grimsley with two singles each and Ellie McManaway with a double. Altamont improves to 4-3 in the National Trail Conference, 10-15 overall.
Dieterich was led by Kaitlyn Boerngen with a single, double and an RBI and Jadyn Pruemer with a double.

Mulberry Grove tallied a 4-2 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday.
Mulberry Grove took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning and tacked on another run in the sixth. CHBC scored its two runs in the seventh.
Madison Cherry led CHBC with two singles.

Casey-Westfield edged ahead 1-0 in the second and went on for an 8-6 victory over Newton in action Tuesday. The game began in the second inning from an earlier rained out contest.
Casey-Westfield had 10 hits and was aided by four Newton errors.
The Eagles were led by Kenzi Smith with a single, home run and five RBI and Josie Grunloh with a triple. Newton dropped to 16-5 on the season.

The Indians took a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on three in the third and one in the fifth.
Neoga had seven hits led by Trista Moore with a double and two RBI, Makenzie Saunders with a double and an RBI and Elizabeth Titus with a single, home run and an RBI.
Titus was the winning pitcher, throwing a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts.
