Effingham and Teutopolis battled through six innings before the Hearts broke loose with three runs and pulled out a 3-0 victory in softball action Monday.

The Hearts' Emma Huss had an RBI single to score pinchrunner Grace Bushur followed by a two RBI single from Lauryn Douthit.

Morgan Krouse and Jacy Boatman had a triple each.

T-town had singles by Allie Brumleve and Lexie Niebrugge.

Jaidi Davis picked up the pitching win, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out eight.

Brumleve suffered the tough-luck loss allowing five hits, three runs, three walks and striking out six.

Effingham improved to 8-6 on the season.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony hosted Dieterich and picked up a 12-2 win in six innings Monday.

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back. St. Anthony had 13 hits led by Sydney Gibson with a single, home run and three RBI, Allie Day with three singles, a double and two RBI, Katie Kabbes with a single, double and two RBI, Grace Hakman with two singles and Liz Day with a double. Jessica Coffin drove in two runs with a single.

Coffin picked up the pitching win on a seven-hitter with no walks and three strikeouts.

The Movin' Maroons were led by Brooke Locey and Kaitlyn Bloemer with a double each.

At St. Anthony

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then broke loose with 12 runs in the third and blanked St. Elmo/Brownstown 15-0 in four innings.

It was Megan Schlechte's day as she hit a grand slam home run, finished with five RBI and also picked up the pitching win on a no-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.

Mackenzi Tabbert added two singles and drove in three runs.

Neoga claimed an 11-1 victory over Altamont in National Trail Conference action Monday.

The Indians had a three-run second and sixth and a four-run fourth.  Neoga had nine hits led by Trista Moore with three singles and an RBI, Makenzie Saunders and Elizabeth Titus with a single, double and two RBI each and Kelsey Partlow with two singles and an RBI.

Altamont was led by Ellie McManaway with a double and an RBI and Katie Grimsley and Bailey Teasley with two singles each.

The Indians drop to 2-3 in the conference, 6-13 overall.

South Central broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with eight runs in the second and went on to beat Odin/Patoka 16-1 in four innings Monday.

The Cougars had 14 hits in the contest. Halle Smith had a single, home run and three RBI, Laney Webster a single, three doubles and three RBI, Angelica Rivera a double and two RBI, Kayli Swift and Jordan Geiler a triple and an RBI each, Katie Shumate a double and an RBI, Macey Potter a double and Lily Malone, two singles and three RBI.

Sydnee Garrett picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts.

South Central improves to 14-4 on the season.

Newton took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for an 8-3 victory over Olney in action Monday.

The Eagles had eight hits led by Kenzi Smith with a double, home run and two RBI, Josie Grunloh with two singles and two RBI and Payton Kinder with two singles and an RBI.

Smith picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out five.
