South Central stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and went on for a 14-2 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in five innings via the 10-run rule in softball action Tuesday.
The Cougars had 12 hits led by Katie Shumate with three singles and two RBI, Sydnee Garrett with a single, double and two RBI, Halle Smith with a single, triple and an RBI, Angelica Rivera with a single, double and two RBI and Lily Malone with a double and two RBI.
CHBC had three hits led by Felicia Owens with two singles and Madison Cherry with a home run.

Newton High School bounced Neoga to the tune of 15-0 in action Tuesday.
The Eagles had two-run innings in the first and third, three in the fifth and eight in the sixth to end the game.
Josie Grunloh had a single, double, triple and two RBI for the winners while Kenzi Smith added a double, home run and three RBI. Maddi Hemrich chipped in with a single, double and two RBI and Kelsi Geltz with two singles and two RBI.
Neoga had five hits led by Avery Fearday with two singles.

NC/CC was led in hitting by Keisha Allen with three singles and Malorie Craig with two singles and an RBI. The win was the first of the season for NC/CC. The squad improved to 1-9 on the season.
Dieterich had six hits led by Megan Bierman with a single and double and Kaitlyn Boerngen and Emily Bloemer with a double each. Boerngen drove in a run.
