TEUTOPOLIS -- Karlie Bean was the star of the day for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Thursday.

Bean threw a four-hitter with no walks and 13 strikeouts as the Hatchets blanked Teutopolis 11-0 in high school softball action.

Bean also led the way in hitting as she finished with a single, two doubles and drove in a run. The Hatchets had 13 hits in the game. Katrina Davis contributed a single, triple and an RBI, Hannah Hayes a double and an RBI and Carson Cole and Mackenzi Tabbert two singles and two RBI each. Ava Bennett drove in two runs with a single.

T-town was led by Allie Niebrugge with a double. The Shoes drop to 3-5 on the season.

At Altamont

Altamont and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City went three scoreless innings before the Indians stepped up with two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 7-1 victory in National Trail Conference play Thursday.

Mary Guse, Abby Goeckner and Katie Grimsley led the way in the hitting department for the Indians. Guse had a double, triple and an RBI while Goeckner had a single and two doubles and Grimsley a single and double. Olivia Williams added a triple.

Altamont improved to 2-1 in the conference, 6-6 overall.

CHBC was led by Felicia Owens with two singles. The Bobcats drop to 0-3 in the conference, 0-6 overall.

At Newton

Newton stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on for a 9-1 victory over Marshall in action Thursday.

The Eagles had 13 hits in the contest and was aided by four Marshall errors.

Josie Grunloh had three singles, a triple and an RBI for the Eagles while Payton Kinder had two singles and four RBI, Brooke Jansen three singles and an RBI, Maddi Hemrich two singles and Alison Russell a double and an RBI.

Kenzi Smith picked up the pitching win going three innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out four. Hemrich came on to throw four innings allowing two hits, one run and striking out one.

At Newton

Waltonville handed North Clay/Clay City an 18-0 loss in four innings Thursday.

Bre Farris and Kirstin Allen had a single each for NC/CC. The squad drops to 0-8 on the season and is 0-4 in Midland Trail Conference play.

At Toledo

Cumberland held Neoga scoreless to pick up a 2-0 victory Thursday.

The Pirates tallied single runs in the third and fourth innings.

Liberty Dunaway picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out eight.

Dunaway also had a double for the Pirates while Allyson Maynard had two singles and an RBI.

The Pirates are now 9-4 on the season.
