EHS Splits With MZ, Ttown, WSS, S.C. Nab Wins

Effingham and Mount Zion split an Apollo Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday.
The Braves claimed a 7-0 victory, scoring three runs in the first and the second innings and one in the sixth. They had nine hits in the contest including two doubles and two RBI by A. Eades and a single, a home run and an RBI by E. Ewing.
The Hearts had five hits in the contest led by Lauryn Douthit and Morgan Krouse with two singles each.
In the second game, Carsyn Fearday provided a slam-bang finish for the Hearts.
The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the fourth and pushed that to 3-0 in the top of the seventh. The Hearts came back with two runs to pull within 3-2 then Fearday hit a walk-off grand slam home run over the fence for a 6-3 victory in the bottom of the seventh.
Fearday finished with a single, home run and four RBI for the Hearts. Jacy Boatman added three singles. Taylor Armstrong and Emma Huss had a single and an RBI each.
Armstrong was the winning pitcher coming on in relief to throw six innings, allowing six hits, three runs and two walks.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis stepped out to a 9-0 first inning lead and that was the game in a 12-2 win over Greenville in five innings via the 10-run rule Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes had 12 hits to go along with their 12 runs. K. Mette hit two singles and a double while E. Deters had two doubles and two RBI. L. Schumacher provided two singles and an RBI. M. Funneman drove in three runs with a single. H. Heuerman had a single and two RBI and S. Gebben two RBI.
A. Brumleve picked up the win on the mound, going three innings, allowing no runs, one hit, one walk and striking out three. T. Probst came on in relief in the fourth, giving up four hits, two runs, one walk and striking out one.
The Wooden Shoes improve to 3-4. The junior varsity game also went to T-town, 15-1.

At Strasburg
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg continues to pound victims this season. The latest was a 19-4 win over Okawville Tuesday.
Okawville opened with a 3-0 first inning lead and tacked on a single run in the top of the second. WSS tied in the bottom of that inning and moved ahead with a five-run third and finished off with 10 runs in the fourth to end the contest.
The Hatchets conitnue their extra base hitting with three doubles, two triples and two home runs. Mackenzi Tabbert and Ava Bennett hit a home run each and had two RBI. Carson Cole added a double, triple and two RBI, Katrina Davis had a single, double and an RBI, Mackinzee Reynolds a single, triple and two RBI and Calla Roney a double
Megan Schlechte threw a four-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.

South Central claimed a 5-1 victory over Altamont in National Trail Conference action Tuesday.
The Cougars tallied a single run in the fourth and finished out with four in the top of the seventh. Altamont scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
Halle Smith picked up the five-hit pitching win.
South Central had seven hits led by Angelica Rivera with two doubles and Kayli Swift with a single and double.
Altamont was led by Katie Grimsley with a single and double and Olivia Williams with a double. The Indians drop to 0-1 in the conference, 3-6 overall.

Olney ended this game in the sixth inning via the 10-run rule over North Clay/Clay City, 17-6 Tuesday.
Malorie Craig led NC/CC with two singles, a double and two RBI while Kirstin Allen had a single, double and two RBI. Bre Farris and Keisha Allen finished with two singles and an RBI each.
North Clay/Clay City dropped to 0-3 in the Midland Trail Conference, 0-7 overall.
