Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead and finished out winning by one run over Neoga, 7-6 in softball competition Thursday.

The Bulldogs were outhit by Neoga by an 11-8 count. Liz Day led the Bulldogs with two singles, two doubles and two RBI while Katie Kabbes added two singles, a double and an RBI and Allie Day had a double and drove in a run.

Neoga was led by Makenzie Saunders with a double, home run and two RBI. Avery Fearday had a single and double. Kelsey Partlow and Elizabeth Titus had two singles and an RBI each while Molly Sheehan added two singles.

A. Day picked up the pitching win going all seven innings, allowing 11 hits, no walks and striking out six.

At St. Anthony

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown ran off to a 6-1 lead after two innings and then had to fight off Odin for a 7-6 win Thursday.

Odin tallied three in the fifth and tied the score at 6-6 in the top of the seventh. SEB then won with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Marlee Nolen had two singles while Tristyn King led the way with two singles and two RBI.

Natalie Oberlink picked up the win on a six-hitter with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

At St. Elmo

Newton bounced Dieterich in five innings via the 10-run rule Thursday, 13-0.

The Eagles had 15 hits in the game led by Brooke Jansen with two singles, a double and an RBI. Payton Kinder added three singles and an RBI while Jacey Parr had two singles and two RBI. Maddi Hemrich added a triple and an RBI and Amber Russell a double and two RBI.

Dieterich was led by Kaitlyn Boerngen with a double.

Olivia Flowers picked up the win on the mound, going five innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out three.

At Newton

Charleston came calling and edged Teutopolis, 6-5 in action Thursday.

The Trojans had 10 hits in the contest, four of those for extra bases.

The Wooden Shoes had six hits led by M. Funneman with a home run and two RBI and A. Niebrugge with a double. E. Deters had a single and drove in two runs.

E. Price was the winning pitcher for Charleston going five innings, allowing four hits, five walks and striking out eight.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Taylorville, 13-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Thursday.

WSS took a 4-0 first inning lead then had a two-run second, a six-run fourth and scored a single run in the sixth.

Megan Schlechte picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out four. Karlie Bean came on in the fourth and went two innings, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out six.

Carson Cole and Hannah Hayes led the way in hitting for the Hatchets. Cole had a single and two doubles while Hayes had two singles, a double and three RBI. Calla Roney added two singles and two RBI while Bean had a home run and two RBI and Mackenzi Tabbert a double and an RBI.

At Taylorville

Altamont edged Greenville, 11-10 in action Thursday.

The Indians led 8-5 after six innings. Greenville tied the score at 8-8 with three in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. Altamont tallied three in the top of the eighth and held off a final challenge in the bottom of the frame for the victory.

Altamont had nine hits led by Tinley Mette with two singles, a double and two RBI and Eckhardt with three singles and three RBI. Teasley added a double and an RBI. The Indians improve to 2-3 on the season.

South Central took the early lead and held on for a 4-1 victory over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Thursday.

The Cougars had six hits led by Halle Smith with a single and double and Angelica Rivera with a double and two RBI.

Sydnee Garrett went seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out seven.

South Central improves to 3-0 on the season.

Cubmerland clipped Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 7-6 in action Thursday.

ALAH took a 2-1 first inning lead and led 4-1 after two and 6-3 after six. The Pirates then came back with a four-run bottom of the seventh for the victory.

The Pirates had eight hits led by Zoe Mitchell with a single, triple and three RBI. Sadie Oakley added a single, double and an RBI and Allyson Maynard a double.

Madison Hendrix was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter over three innings.
