WSS Pounds Arcola, BSE Drops Game In Softball Action

STRASBURG -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School is taking aim at another state softball tournament visit this year by tuning up during the regular season.

Wednesday, the Hatchets pounded Arcola to the tune of 20-0 in four innings. WSS ran off to a 16-0 opening inning lead and that was the game.

Calla Roney was the winning pitcher, going two innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

Hitting-wise, Hannah Hayes had a single, triple and three RBI, Karlie Bean two doubles and two RBI, Ava Bennett a double and three RBI, Mackinzee Reynolds two singles, Mackenzi Tabbert two singles and two RBI and Roney two singles and two RBI.

At St. Elmo

Greenville edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 4-3 in action  Wednesday.

Both teams had seven hits each. BSE committed two errors.

BSE was led in hitting by Katelyn Maxey with two singles and a double.

Hutchinson was the winning pitcher going all seven innings, allowing seven hits, two walks and striking out five. Greenville was led by Unterbrink with a single, double and an RBI.
