Effingham St. Anthony High School had two six-run innings in downing Olney 12-1 Tuesday. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

The Bulldogs opened the game with six runs then added on six more in the third.

St. Anthony banged out 13 hits in the contest, eight of those extra base hits. Liz Day had a double, home run and three RBI while Sydney Gibson had a double, triple and two RBI, Katie Kabbes a single and double and Jessica Coffin, Allie Day, Karlee Roepke and Grace Karolewicz with a double each. A. Day and Karolewicz drove in two runs while Coffin had one RBI. Grace Hakman added two singles and an RBI.

Coffin picked up the win on the mound allowing four hits, one run and striking out four.

Effingham edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then ended up putting the game away via the 10-run rule in the fifth over Vandalia, 15-4.

The Hearts had their hitting shoes on with 16 hits. Jaidi Davis led the way with three singles, a double and six RBI while Carsyn Fearday had two singles, a triple and three RBI. Morgan Krause added a single, two doubles and two RBI. Lauryn Douthit and Emma Huss had two singles each. Douthit finished with two RBI.

Davis picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with six walks and nine strikeouts.

At Neoga

Neoga picked up win over National Trail Conference opponent Dieterich Tuesday, 9-3.

The Indians stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a one-run second and a six-run third.

Neoga had nine hits led by Elizabeth Titus with a solo home run. She also picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts.Makenzie Saunders added a triple and two RBI while Kelsey Partlow had two singles and an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Jenny Robards with a single, two doubles and two RBI.

At Neoga

Altamont took a 1-0 lead in the third, tacked on two in the fourth and fifth innings and three in the sixth to beat Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 8-3 Tuesday.

Mary Guse had two doubles and drove in two runs for the Indians while Teasley had a single, double and two RBI and Grimsley had two singles and an RBI.

Teasley picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter. Altamont is now 1-3 on the season.

South Central continues to roll along. The Cougars handed Webber Township (Bluford) an 18-5 loss in five innings Tuesday.

The Cougars had 13 hits in the game and were aided by seven Webber Township errors.

Laney Webster had a single, triple, home run and four RBI for South Central. Katie Shumate had two singles, a double and an RBI while Kayli Swift had two singles and an RBI. Sydnee Garrett added a double and an RBI and Halle Smith two singles.

South Central improves to 2-0 on the season.

At Bluford

Teutopolis trailed Ramsey 2-1 after the opening inning but knotted the score at 2-2 in the second. The Wooden Shoes then broke the game open with a seven-run third and went on for a 10-3 win.

The Shoes had 12 hits in the contest led by Brumleve with two singles, a double and three RBI and Deters with two singles, a double and two RBI. Mette added a double and Funneman two singles.

Charleston High School escaped with a 5-4 win over  Cumberland in action Tuesday.

The Pirates held a 2-1 opening inning lead and led 4-2 after three. The two teams went scoreless over the next three innings before Charleston won in the bottom of the seventh with three runs.

Allyson Maynard, Liberty Dunaway and Jazzmine Oakley had two singles and an RBI each for Cumberland.

Pana broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the second and went on to beat Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 14-4 in seven innings Tuesday.

The Panthers had 13 hits in the contest and were aided by seven CHBC errors.

CHBC was led by Madison Cherry with a home run and two RBI, Kylee Bertin with two singles and Sydney Dunaway with a double and an RBI.

CHBC drops to 0-1.
