Mattoon Junior High School took a 1-0 lead on Effingham in softball action Tuesday but the Mustangs came back to tie the score in the second and go on for an 8-1 win.

Effingham had 11 hits in the contest led by Courtney Beck with a single, double and an RBI and Elena Niebrugge with two singles and two RBI.

Beck picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, one walk and striking out seven.

Shelbyville Moulton claimed an 11-4 win over Effingham St. Anthony in action Tuesday.

 Moulton took off to an 8-1 opening inning lead and never looked back.

The Bullpups had only two hits, singles by M. Kibler and H. Niebrugge.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg put together some big hitting while A. Richards threw a one-hitter in downing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 16-4 in four innings Tuesday.

WSS took a 7-0 first inning lead and that was the game. Richards had a single, two doubles and drove in four runs while G. Vonderheide had two singles and two RBI and E. Kinkelaar a single and triple.

CHBC was led by Macee Rodman with a single.

Cumberland played host to Altamont and picked up an 11-1 victory in five innings Tuesday.

Cumberland had an eight-run second then tacked on two in the fourth and two in the ffith.

Sowers had two doubles and an RBI for the winners while Martinez and Syfert had a triple each. Syfert had two RBI and Martinez one. Wilson added a double and an RBI.

Altamont was led by Tedrick with a single and double. Altamont falls to 0-6.

At Toledo

South Central took a 10-0 opening inning lead and that was the game in a 15-0 win over Raccoon Tuesday.

South Central had only four hits in the game with singles by Kaley Blomberg, Brooklyn Garrett, Brooke Cowger and Katlyn Swift. Garrett had two RBI whie Blomberg and Swift had one each.

South Central's Garret also threw the three innings allowing one hit, four walks and striking out nine.

South Central improves to 5-0 on the season.
