Girls Senior Softball League -- July 11

Southern Illinois Hand Center picked up a first game victory over Adhatters in Girls Senior Softball League play at Evergreen Hollow Park Wednesday.

Southern Illinois took a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back in the 15-2 win.

Allie Day threw a two-hitter. Southern Illinois banged out 13 hits in the contest led by A. Day with a double, triple and an RBI, Liz Day with a single, double and four RBI, Theresa Davis with three singles and four RBI, Meyer with a single, double and three RBI and Grubb with two singles and an RBI.

Andrea Bierman and Megan Bierman had the only two hits for Adhatters with a single each. A. Bierman had an RBI.

In the second contest, Effingham Surgery Center beat Southern Illinois Hand Center, 10-7. Effingham Surgery led 8-1 after four innings. Southern Illinois pulled within 8-7 in the top of the fifth but Effingham Surgery tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of half of the inning.

Effingham Surgery had only four hits led by Walk with a triple and an RBI and Hannah Hayes, Hardiek and McKenna Tabor had a double each for the winners. Hayes added an RBI. Walls had a triple and an RBI.

Southern Illinois was led by Liz and Allie Day with a single and double each. L. Day had an RBI.

In the final game, Adhatters won over Effingham Surgery Center, 14-11. The score was knotted at 7-7 in the second. Adhatters then tallied seven in the third inning.

Both teams had five hits. Adhatters was led by Kimberly Brummer with a triple and two RBI and Taylor O'Dell, with a single and three RBI.

Effingham Surgery was led by Hannah Hayes with two triples and three RBI and Hardiek with a single and double.
