Charleston Ends Effingham's Softball Season 5-0

The Charleston Trojans ended the Effingham Hearts' season in the championship game of the Charleston 3A Softball Sectional, winning 5-0 Saturday.

Charleston scored a single run in the first, and two times each in the fourth and fifth innings to post the win. 

Effingham's Aly Armstrong allowed Charleston just five hits and only three earned runs, but suffered the loss. She walked just one batter, and did not record a strikeout. Charleston did homer twice, though, both by Macey McElravy. Emily Price pitched a five-hit shutout to post the win for Charleston.

Jerry Trigg's crew finished the season with a 23-9 record.
