The Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Hatchets played a great game in defeating Moweaqua Central A&M 10-0 in five innings at the St. Anthony Class 1A Sectional Softball Tournament Tuesday. The contest was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

Calla Roney pitched a tremendous game, allowing a wind-aided leadoff double, then retiring the next 15 batters. Roney fanned 11 batters in the five-inning contest.

Meanwhile, the Hatchets offense was consistent throughout the game. Carson Cole reached on an error to start the bottom of the first, was sacrificed to second and then scored on an error to make it 1-0.

The second inning was the difference, as the Hatchets scored six times. Hannah Hayes reached on an error to start the inning. With one out, MacKenzee Reynolds singled, then with two outs, Katrina Davis reached on an error with Hayes scoring. Cole singled and drove home Reynolds. Davis scored on an error. Megan Schlechte doubled home Cole to make it 4-0 and then Roney smoked a long home run to right center driving in Schlechte ahead of her to make it 7-0.

Windsor/Stew-Stras got two more runners aboard in the third but couldn't score. In the fourth, though, Schlechte walked with one out and Roney singled before MacKenzi Tabbert homered to dead center, scoring Schlechte and Roney ahead of her to make it 10-0.

Allie Brown took the loss for Central A&M, allowing 10 runs, but only three earned, on eight hits and two walks while not striking out a batter.
