Windsor/Stew-Stras Headed to Softball Sectional

NOKOMIS -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School shut out Nokomis 9-0 to win the Class 1A Nokomis Softball Regional championship Monday. The game originally was scheduled for Saturday but postponed due to rain.

The Hatchets tallied two runs in the second then opened the game up with a seven-run third. Calla Roney went four innings, allowed one hit, one walk and struck out nine for the win.

Madison Everett had a single, double and two RBI while Megan Schlechte added a single and three RBI.

Windsor/Stew-Stras improves to 23-4 on the season and will head to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional to face Moweaqua Central A&M at 4:30 p.m. today.

Class 1A Moweaqua Central A&M Regional

Moweaqua Central A&M claimed the championship of its own regional by downing Neoga, 7-4 Monday. The game was a makeup from Saturday.

Central A&M held a 4-0 lead in the second. Neoga came back with two runs in the third. Central A&M then moved ahead 7-2 in the fifth. Neoga tallied one in the sixth and one in the seventh but fell short.

Elizabeth Titus had a single, double, home run and three RBI for the Indians. Neoga ends the season at 12-14.

Class 2A Vandalia Regional

Casey-Westfield ended Teutopolis' season with an 11-3 victory in the championship game of the Class 2A Vandalia Regional Monday.

Casey-Westfield edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then tallied four in the third and five in the fifth. T-town scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.

The Warriors outhit T-town 11-4. Laney Gowin had two singles, a double and two RBI while Beasley had two doubles and two RBI. Maulding hit a home run and had three RBI while Jones had a double and an RBI, Weger two singles and Richardson a double and two RBI.

T-town had three home runs in its four hits. Sadie Bueker hit two home runs, both solo shots. Emma Beckman added a solo home run. The Shoes finish the season with a 12-11 record.

Casey-Westfield (24-7) advances to its own sectional to face Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. today.

Decatur MacArthur trounced Decatur Eisenhower 15-0 in the opening game of the Charleston Regional Monday.

Decatur MacArthur advances to face Charleston  at 4:30 p.m. today. Effingham will take on Taylorville at 6:30 p.m.
