Effingham St. Anthony handed Neoga a 12-4 loss in high school softball competition Thursday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 4-3 opening inning lead then had an eight-run second that put the game in the win column.

Sydney Gibson led the Bulldogs' 11-hit attack with two singles, a double and two RBI. Liz Day had a single, double and an RBI and Katie Kabbes had a single, double and two RBI. Jessica Coffin chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

Neoga was led by Makenzie Saunders with two singles and two RBI and Kelsey Partlow with two singles.

Coffin picked up the pitching win for the Bulldogs, allowing six hits, seven walks and striking out six.

At Odin

St. Elmo/Brownstown held a 3-1 lead going into the fourth inning, then ended the game via the 10-run rule over Odin, 22-2.

SEB had a 15-run fourth inning. Marlee Nolen threw a one-hitter with five walks and nine strikeouts.

Makenzie Parkison had three singles for the winners while Hailey Wright had two singles and three RBI. Emma Gathe added two singles and four RBI. Nolen hit a home run and finished with three RBI. Katelyn Maxey had a double while Natalie Oberlink had a triple and two RBI.

In a game Wednesday at Greenville, SEB fell to the host squad, 5-3. Oberlink led the way with a single, double and two RBI.

At Altamont

Altamont had a big hitting game in beating Greenville 13-6 in action Thursday.

The Indians banged out 16 hits led by Abby Goeckner with two singles, a double and four RBI and Caitlyn White with four singles. Olivia Eckhardt had a single and double, Shelbi Stone two singles and two RBI and Mary Guse two singles and an RBI.

Altamont improved to 1-1 on the season.

Newton banged out 17 hits and downed Dieterich 19-1 in five innings Thursday.

The Eagles took a 6-0 opening inning lead then had a six-run third and a four-run fifth.

Dieterich had one hit and finished with four errors.

 

At Charleston

The game was scoreless through the first two innings before Charleston tallied two in the third and tacked on a final run in the sixth to blank Teutopolis, 3-0 Thursday.

The Trojans had eight hits in the contest led by Fellers with a single and triple, McGahey with a double and McElravy with a double.

T-town was led by Schmidt with a double and Brumleve with two singles.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond downed Cumberland, 8-6 Thursday.

ALAH scored a single run in the second then tacked on two in the third. Cumberland tied in the top of the fifth but ALAH moved ahead 5-3. The Pirates then took a 6-5 lead in the sixth only to see ALAH win the game with a three-run bottom of the frame.

Cumberland had 11 hits but committed six errors.
