WSS, Cumberland Claim Softball Wins

ARCOLA -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School pounded Arcola, 18-1, ending the game via the 10-run rule in the fifth inning of softball action Wednesday.

WSS took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 4-1 in the second. The Hatchets then tallied one in the third, five in the fourth and eight in the fifth.

WSS banged out 13 hits led by Tabbert with a double, triple and an RBI, R. Hayes with a single, triple and an RBI, R. Rentfro with a single, double and three RBI and Everett with three singles and two RBI.

Arcola had two hits, one a home run by Hohlbauch.

At Toledo

Cumberland High School took the early lead then fell behind but came back for a 10-4 win over Olney Wednesday.

The Pirates led 2-0 after the first inning and 3-0 after three. But Olney moved ahead with a four-run top of the fourth. Cumberland tied in the bottom of the frame then had a six-run fifth.

Liberty Dunaway threw a three-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts for the win on the mound.

Madison Hendrix had two singles, a triple and two RBI while Micaela Bradley had a single, double and two RBI. Allyson Maynard had a single, double and an RBI.

At Toledo

At Greenville

St. Elmo/Brownstown fell to Greenville in action Wednesday, 5-3.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. Greenville then moved ahead with two runs in the third. SEB pulled within 3-2 in the top of the fourth but Greenville came back with two in the bottom of the frame and held on for the victory.

SEB outhit Greenville 6-3. Natalie Oberlink had a single, double and an RBI while Parkison had a single and double.
