NCCC, Cumberland Pick Up Softball Victories

ST. ELMO -- North Clay/Clay City High School picked up an 8-5 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown in softball action Thursday.

The two squads were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. SEB then took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning. North Clay/Clay City came back in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs for a 5-4 lead. SEB tied in the bottom of the frame. NCCC then came back again with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

North Clay/Clay City was led by Craig, Kessler and Farris with two singles each.

SEB outhit NCCC by a 10-8 count. Makenzie Parkison had three singles while Katelyn Maxey had two singles and two RBI and Natalie Oberlink a single, double and an RBI.

At St. Elmo

At Marshall

Cumberland pounded out 15 hits and brought home 15 runs for a 15-4 win over Marshall in five innings via the 10-run rule Thursday.

The Pirates had a five-run first and a five-run third before ending the game in the fifth.

Hendrix threw a four-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Bradley led the way for the Pirates with a single, double, home run and three RBI. Dunaway had a single, double and two RBI while Maynard had two singles, a double and two RBI. Oakley, had a single, double and two RBI.
