Effingham St. Anthony stepped out to a 10-0 first inning lead and went on for an 18-0 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo in girls junior high softball action Tuesday.

The Bullpups tallied eight more in the third inning and ended the contest in that frame. Guy had a single, home run and four RBI while Hakman had a solo homer. Rios picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out two.

At Patoka

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Junior High School dropped a 12-1 loss to Patoka in action Tuesday.

Patoka took a 4-0 first inning lead then had an eight-run third.

CHBC had only two hits compared to 10 for Patoka. Gracie Heckert had a triple and an RBI and Mady Wojcik had a single.

CHBC dropped to 4-16 on the season.

At Mulberry Grove

Altamont traveled to Mulberry Grove and fell in a 23-13 contest that lasted six innings Tuesday.

Altamont held a 6-4 opening inning lead but Mulberry Grove tallied four to move ahead 8-6. The two teams were tied at 10-10 after three innings and Altamont led 12-10 after four innings and pushed across another run in the top of the fifth. But Mulberry Grove came back with three in the bottom of that frame and then broke loose with a 10-run sixth.

Becker had two singles and two triples for Altamont while Williams had three singles and Berg two singles. Altamont drops to 0-16.
