Effingham Junior High School edged Casey-Westfield 6-5 in baseball competition Thursday.

Casey-Westfield took a 3-2 opening inning lead and led 4-3 after three. The Mustangs tallied three in the fourth to lead 6-4. Casey-Westfield tallied a final run in the seventh.

Effingham had seven hits led by Dunston with a single, double and an RBI and Budde with two singles and an RBI.

At St. Anthony

Teutopolis took the early lead and ended up with a 4-1 win over Effingham St. Anthony Thursday,.

The Shoes led 1-0 in the first. The Bullpups tied in the second but T-town moved ahead 2-1 in the third then tacked on two more runs in the fourth.

Hemmen drove in two runs with two singles. Hardiek had three singles and Deters two singles.

St. Anthony was led by Kabbes with a triple.

At Ramsey

Altamont tallied 17 runs but it wasn't enough in an 18-17 loss to Ramsey Thursday.

The two squads were tied at 3-3 after the first inning. Ramsey took a 5-3 lead in the second but Altamont came back to lead 6-5 in the third and 9-5 in the top of the fourth. Ramsey then scored seven runs in the bottom of the frame. Altamont came back to lead 17-13 but Ramsey tied in the bottom of the inning then scored the winning run in the seventh.

Altamont had a whopping 23 hits while holding Ramsey to five. Leading Altamont were Becker with four singles, Berg with five singles, Williams and Wagner with three singles each. Tedrick and Hassebrock with two singles each and White with a double. Altamont drops to 0-11.

At St. Elmo

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City nabbed a 9-5 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Thursday.

SEB took a 2-0 lead in the first and led 5-3 in the third. CHBC tied the game in the fifth and won it with three runs in the seventh.

Tatyana Duckwitz threw a one-hitter.

Mady Wojcik and Gracie Heckert had two singles each for the winners. Wojcik had two RBI and Heckert one. Duckwitz chipped in with a double and an RBI.

SEB's lone hit was a single by Baker.

At Kinmundy

South Central edged Patoka 2-1. The two squads went scoreless through five innings before Patoka took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth. South Central came back in the bottom of the frame to knot the score then tallied a run in the seventh to pull out the victory.

Teagan Webster led off that frame with a single. Macey Potter hit a ball to third and Webster took second on the throw. Laney Webster walked to load the bases. With Patoka's infield pulled in for the play at the plate, Sierra Arnold hit a pitch off the third baseman's glove for an error and Webster scored the winning run.

South Central is now 7-0 on the season.
