Here are softball results from the area on Thursday:

EFFINGHAM 8, CENTRALIA 0

A five-run third inning was key for the Mustangs. Effingham also scored in the first and tallied two runs in the fourth on a total of six hits in the game.

Beck went the distance to post the shutout for Effingham, allowing just three hits and a walk while fanning nine batters.

MATTOON 9, ST. ANTHONY 3

The Bullpups led 3-2 heading to the bottom of the second, but Mattoon scored five in the bottom of the second and added two more runs in the third to salt the game away.

Fearday started for St. Anthony, allowing all nine runs, seven earned, on nine hits and two walks, including two home runs, while fanning two. Rios pitched the final two innings, allowing a hit and a walk, with one strikeout.

Teasley got the win, while Tatyana Duckwitz took the loss.
