CHARLESTON -- Teutopolis Junior High School claimed a 4-3 victory over Charleston in girls softball competition Wednesday.

The Wooden Shoes struck in the first inning as Isabelle Hemmen led off the frame reaching base when she was hit by a pitch. Emily Konkel reached when she was hit by a pitch. On passed balls, Hemmen and Konkel moved to second and third and both then came home on passed balls and T-town led 2-0.

Hemmen then led off the third with a line drive up the middle and went to second on a passed ball. Konkel then followed with a deep fly ball, scoring Hemmen.

In the fourth, Tia Probst reached first on an error. Pinchrunner Estelle Mette advanced on a passed ball and got to third on a fielder's choice. Mette then scored when runner Izzy Hardiek stole second and Charleston made a play on her and the lead went to 4-0.

In the sixth, Charleston rallied pulling within 4-3. But T-town's defense got tough in the bottom of the seventh to end any threat for the victory.
