Effingham St. Anthony edged Charleston 10-9 in 10 innings of junior high school softball Friday.
Charleston held a 3-2 opening inning lead then pushed that to 4-2 in the second and 6-2 in the top of the third. The Bullpups came back with four runs to tie the score in the fourth and moved ahead with a run in the fourth. Charleston knotted the score at 7-7 in the sixth. That game went into extra innings and Charleston scored a run in the top of the eighth but so did St. Anthony.
Charleston led 9-8 in the 10th. St. Anthony's Grace Karolewicz had a walk-off single scoring both runs for the win in the bottom of the 10th. Karolewicz, had four singles and three RBI.
Rylee Rothrock had a three-run homer in the bottom of the third and also a single. She finished with five RBI. Lucy Fearday went the distance for the win. She had four strikeouts.
