EHS Pounds Salem Twice In Softball Action

Effingham High School pounded Salem in Apollo Conference softball action Wednesday.

The Hearts won the opener 10-0 in five innings. EHS scored two in the first, four in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Wright had a single, double, home run and four RBI to lead the Hearts. Armstrong pounded out a solo home run. Fearday had a double and two RBI and Lake a double. Funneman contributed two singles.

Armstrong was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter with no walks and 12 strikeouts.

In the second game, Effingham was an 11-0 winner in five innings. The Hearts tallied five in the first and second innings and one in the third.

Armstrong was again the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts. Boone came on to finish out the final two innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out five.

Fearday had a single, home run and an RBI while Kersey had a single, home run and two RBI. Martin added a double.

The Hearts finish the Apollo Conference season at 3-7 and stand at 17-8 overall.
