St. Anthony Wins Its First Cross Creek Classic

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs won their first-ever Cross Creek Classic Monday evening, defeating the Teutopolis Lady Shoes 4-1 in a game at Evergreen Hollow Park.

Teutopolis scored its only run in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Raegan Drees led off the game with a walk, but was picked off by catcher Jenna Woltman. Marianna Hemmen then worked a walk and one out later was doubled home by Sidney Brumleve.

St. Anthony tied the game in the third. Katie Kabbes singled to lead off the inning and Jessica Coffin walked. Jenna Woltman's double drove home Kabbes with the tying run.

The Lady Bulldogs plated two runs in the fourth, with a two-out rally. Liz Day drew a walk and Danielle Having doubled her home. Grace Hakman reached on an error that allowed Having to score.

St. Anthony added a final run in the fifth. With one out, Woltman doubled. One out later, Allie Day walked and pinch-hitter Karlee Roepke reached on an error that allowed Woltman to score.

Jessica Coffin threw a quality game for St. Anthony. The freshman went the distance, allowing five hits and four walks in seven innings, while fanning five.

Jessica Drees started for Teutopolis, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out one in 4-1/3 innings. Emma Beckman threw the final 2-2/3 innings, giving up two hits and two walks while fanning three.

At the plate for St. Anthony, Katie Kabbes singled and scored; Jessica Coffin walked; Jenna Woltman doubled twice and singled, scored and drove in a run; Shea Kinkelaar singled and drove in a run; Allie Day walked; Liz Day singled, walked twice and scored; Danielle Having doubled, scored and drove in a run; and Grace Hakman singled.

At the plate for Teutopolis, Raegan Drees walked; Marianna Hemmen walked and scored; Jessica Drees singled; Sidney Brumleve doubled and drove in a run; Sadie Bueker singled; Lauren Hemmen singled; Julia Schmid walked; and Allie Niebrugge walked.

St. Anthony improved to 16-12 on the season, while Teutopolis dropped to 7-12.
