WSS, Altamont Advance To NTC Title Game, EHS Wins Twice

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and Altamont advanced to the championship game of the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament Tuesday.
Top-seeded WSS pounded Neoga 12-0 in three innings. The Hatchets took a 3-0 first inning lead then tallied 11 runs in the second and finished out with one in the third.
Calla Roney pitched a no-hitter with five strikeouts.
The Hatchets were led in hitting by Taylor Rentfro with a home run and four RBI, Carson Cole with a double and Katrina Davis with a double and an RBI.
Altamont then bounced Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 18-2 in three innings. The Indians took a 6-2 opening inning lead then broke the game open with a 12-run second.
Biggs threw a one-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts.
Grimsley led in hitting with a single, double, triple and an RBI, Winters with a single, triple and two RBI, Mette with a single, double and an RBI, Biggs with a single, triple and five RBI, Goeckner with a single, double and three RBI, Burns with two singles, a double and three RBI and Shryock with a double.
In consolation bracket action, St.Elmo/Brownstown took a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back in a 16-1 win over Dieterich in four innings.
SEB banged out 15 hits while Nolen was tossing a no-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.
SEB's Brown had two singles, a double and drove in five runs, Maxey a single, double, triple and three RBI, Philpot with two singles and two RBI and Moss with two singles and an RBI. Parkison and Moss had two singles each.
St. Anthony blanked South Central 13-0 in five innings. The Bulldogs stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead, tallied one in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth.
Kabbes had a single, home run and two RBI for the Bulldogs while Woltman had two singles and a double, Coffin and Kinkelaar with two singles and an RBI each, Having with two singles and two RBI and Gibson with a double and two RBI.
South Central had three hits, singles by Johnston, Lee and Rivera.
The finals will be played Friday with St. Elmo/Brownstown against St. Anthony at 4:15 p.m. for the consolation championship, Neoga taking on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 4:15 for third place and Windsor/Stew-Stras meeting Altamont at 6 for the championship.

At Effingham
Effingham claimed two victories Tuesday evening. The Hearts downed Teutopolis 6-1. EHS held a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on another run in the third. T-town scored a run in the top of the third. But the Hearts came back with four in the bottom of the fourth.
Armstrong threw a two-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Fearday and Schafer had two singles each while Fearday added two RBI.
The Hearts then squared off against Newton and claimed a 5-2 win. EHS took a 2-0 first inning lead then added on a single run in the third. Newton pulled within 3-2 in the top of the fifth but the Hearts tallied two more to put the game into the safety column.
Armstrong went all seven innings, allowing four hits, two walks and striking out three.
Wright had a single, double and two RBI while Fearday had two singles..
