NEWTON 3, CASEY-WESTFIELD 1

Kristen Hardiek got the win, allowing just three hits and fanning 12 batters. Claire Maulding took the loss.

SOUTH CENTRAL 9, DIETERICH 5

South Central scored twice in the top of the first, but Dieterich bounced back with a run in the bottom of the frame. South Central made it 7-1 with five runs in the third, but Dieterich scored twice that same inning to pull within 7-3. South Central scored in the fourth to make it 8-3 and one in the sixth to make it 9-3. Dieterich scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to account for the final score.

Katie Shumate got the win, allowing just one earned run on two hits. She walked nine, and made three wild pitches, but struck out eight.

At the plate for South Central: Alannah Sigrist singled and stole a base and scored a run; Lexie Reid singled twice, scored three times and drove in a run; Zoe Johnston tripled and scored; Serina Lee singled three times, scored and drove in three runs; Sidney Wilkins doubled and singled, stole a base, scored and drove in two runs; Katie Shumate and Katlyn Hilmes each reached base and scored; Harlee Brown singled; and Angelica Rivera drove in a run.

South Central improved to 2-5 overall, 1-2 in National Trail Conference play.

Megan Schlechte got the win, allowing four hits, and struck out six batters. 

At the plate for WSS: Cole tripled; Schlechte drove in a run; Tabbert homered and drove in a run; Calla Roney singled twice; Everett singled twice; Rentfro drove in a run; Bennett had three hits including a triple and drove in four runs; Davis singled and drove in two runs
